Welcome. If you found your way here, there’s a good chance you’ve been thinking about some of the same questions that eventually led me to write Finding God at 50. Life has a way of bringing those questions to the surface when we least expect it. For me, it happened later in life, after years of living, working, and trying to make sense of things the way most people do.
About The Author
Eli Brackenbury
Eli Brackenbury is a writer and father whose midlife awakening reshaped the way he understands faith, purpose, and peace. After decades in environmental health and safety leadership, and years spent carrying quiet questions about God, Eli experienced a shift at fifty that opened the door to a deeper, more honest relationship with Jesus. His memoir, Finding God at 50, weaves together humor, heartbreak, and hope, inviting readers to explore their own spiritual questions with courage and curiosity.
Drawing from personal loss, unexpected grace, and the everyday moments where God whispers instead of shouts, Eli writes for anyone who has ever felt restless, overwhelmed, or unsure where they stand with faith. His voice is humble, relatable, and deeply human, offering companionship rather than instruction.
He lives in Washington State, where he continues to write, reflect, and “make his mark” in the way his mother encouraged him to, by helping others discover that it’s never too late to begin again.

About The Book
Finding God at 50
I didn’t set out to write a book about faith.
For most of my life, faith was something I thought I already understood. I grew up around it. I heard about it often enough. But like many people, I eventually reached a point where the beliefs I carried from childhood didn’t quite feel the same anymore.
Life had happened in the meantime. Work, family, responsibilities, and the kinds of experiences that slowly shape how you see the world.
Somewhere along the way, I started asking questions again. Not angry questions. Just honest ones.
Finding God at 50 grew out of those moments of reflection. It’s really just my story of rediscovering faith after many years of living without thinking deeply about it.
Some of the moments in the book are difficult. Others are surprisingly peaceful. But each one played a role in helping me understand something I hadn’t fully seen before.
Sometimes faith doesn’t arrive when we’re young. Sometimes it shows up later, when life has already taught us a few things.
